Chennai: A history-sheeter, Ajith Kumar, 24, and a juvenile were arrested for stealing gold jewellery from a house in Vyasarpadi last month. Police recovered 78g of the stolen gold jewellery. Ajith Kumar alias ‘Speed’ Ajith, of Pulianthope, was arrested after Kanimozhi, 29, reported the burglary. Kanimozhi and her family had left for her native village on April 4. The next morning, a neighbour found the lock of her house broken. When she came back, she found 89g of gold jewellery and silver articles missing.A case was registered, and investigations led to Ajith Kumar. Police found that he had buried some of the stolen jewellery in KP Park. Further inquiry revealed that he pawned some of the stolen items through a 16-year-old boy. Police found the teen and initiated action under the Juvenile Justice Act. Ajith Kumar was produced before a magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody. The arrested juvenile was sent to a govt observation home after being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Further investigations are on.TNN
