Maheda suffered severe injuries to his head, cheeks, and hands. He was initially rushed to the Liliya govt hospital where doctors referred him to the Amreli Civil Hospital for advanced treatment. In a second attack post-midnight on Sunday, a two-and-a-half-year-old child of a migrant labourer family from Maharashtra was attacked in Umbri village of Sutrapada taluka of Gir Somnath. The family was sleeping outdoors when a leopard seized the young boy and dragged him roughly 200m away. The parents woke up and raised an alarm. After they shouted for help and hurled stones, the animal dropped the toddler and fled into nearby bushes. The child was initially treated at a local government facility before being shifted to the Junagadh Civil Hospital due to severe his injuries. Forest officials have installed traps across the vicinity to capture the prowling leopard.According to local residents, wild animals frequently venture into the area, creating ongoing hazards for labourers working in the fields and children playing outside. Following the attack, a team from the forest department surveyed the surrounding area and placed cages to capture the animal.
