‘Drone activity near Amritsar airport’, 3 flights diverted

Chandigarh: Three flights bound for Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar were diverted following reports of drone activity near a village in the Rajasansi area around 9pm on Sunday.An Air India flight from Delhi was sent back to the national capital, while an IndiGo flight from Mumbai was diverted to Chandigarh. A Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur was diverted to Delhi.The affected flights were Air India AI-855 from Delhi, IndiGo 6E-5028 from Mumbai and Malaysia Airlines MH-118 from Kuala Lumpur.A Chandigarh airport manager confirmed the diversion of IndiGo flight 6E-5028. The flight landed in Chandigarh around 10.30pm and departed for Amritsar at 11.25pm. Authorities in Amritsar are investigating the reported drone activity and the circumstances surrounding the diversions.
