Anti-SIR protests ‘fashion’, foreign funding behind conspiracy: Dilip Ghosh

Kolkata: BJP minister Dilip Ghosh on Sunday criticised the ongoing anti-SIR protests in Delhi, accusing the demonstrators of being influenced by foreign funding and anti-national forces.Ghosh said, “Let the movement happen. Many have staged sit-ins for a month. In India, there’s a fashion among certain people to hold protests. If there’s no work, they say, ‘Let’s go protest.’ Becoming toys in the hands of foreign funding and anti-national forces, they keep doing these things. It will go on for a few days.”Ghosh also targeted former CM Mamata Banerjee, who is in Delhi, claiming she was trying to remain relevant in national politics after being rejected by Bengal voters. He suggested she should go to Bangladesh to join a movement there, adding that it would not benefit Trinamool.Union minister Sukanta Majumdar said, “Yesterday the former CM was sitting comfortably in a police vehicle going along. We were reminded of what we saw in South and North 24 Parganas, Maa Kali riding in a prison van, and yesterday I saw Mamata Banerjee riding in a prison van; time probably changes in this way.”On the CJP protests, Majumdar defended the govt’s actions, saying decisions could be taken in the country’s larger interest.
