Coimbatore: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss has categorically dismissed ongoing reports and said that the party has neither asked for ministerial berths nor has any intention of seeking them.At Coimbatore airport on Saturday, Anbumani clarified the party’s stance on current political developments, particularly in the wake of recent electoral proceedings. He made it clear that there is no truth to reports suggesting an alliance between the two parties. He labelled the reports as “entirely baseless rumours” and maintained that the party remains a part of National Democratic Alliance (NDA).“It is the party’s decision taken after eliciting the views of the senior functionaries. Similarly, we decided not to back any party in the bypolls. We abstained from voting during floor test. The Left parties that extended support to TVK govt contested the bypolls against TVK. Parties take decisions based on the prevailing political scenarios. Anything can happen in politics,” he said.He said that the byelections were conducted in a democratic manner, unlike previous instances where elections were heavily influenced by money and muscle power. He added that any electoral victories for the ruling TVK would further strengthen its administration.Commenting on AIADMK’s performance in the bypolls, Anbumani said the party should self-introspect after finishing third in both Madurantakam and Dharapuram, the constituencies it had won in the previous assembly election. “I am saying this with goodwill towards AIADMK, rather than to criticise it,” he said.
