JAHANGIRPUR /JHAJJAR: Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda on Saturday accused the BJP of coming to power in Haryana through alleged electoral malpractice, renewing the party’s charge of “vote theft” at a Block Congress Workers’ Convention in Jahangirpur village in Jhajjar district.addressing a gathering of Congress workers and supporters from the Badli Assembly constituency, Hooda said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had repeatedly raised concerns over electoral integrity. He also referred to the Opposition’s demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing the BJP government of shielding him.Hooda further criticised the alleged police action against young protesters in Delhi, claiming that demonstrators were being forcibly detained, dragged away and subjected to mistreatment. He also alleged that media personnel had faced similar action.“The youth of this country will no longer remain silent,” Hooda said, adding that the Congress, under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, was protesting against these issues. He said Opposition leaders had also met the President and submitted a memorandum seeking action.The allegations concerning electoral malpractice and police conduct could not be independently verified. Responses from the BJP and the authorities concerned were not available.Badli MLA Kuldeep Vats struck an emotional note at the convention, expressing gratitude to party workers, senior citizens, women and young supporters for their continued affection and support.“Even if I were to have footwear made for your feet from the skin of my own body, I would still be unable to repay the debt I owe to the people of Badli,” Vats said, reaffirming his commitment to public service and constituency development.Responding to remarks attributed to Mahipal Dhanda concerning the availability of money among people, Vats said such comments could hurt local sentiments, particularly given the religious significance associated with the land of Dada Sarangdev.He maintained that he and Hooda had facilitated funds through government grants and urged public representatives to respect people’s religious beliefs and sentiments.Former Haryana education minister and Jhajjar MLA Geeta Bhukkal, Rao Dan Singh and MLA Balram Dangi were also present at the convention, which brought together Congress workers and supporters to discuss local concerns and broader political issues.
