Land allotted for Lovlina Boxing Academy at nominal Re 1 premium

Guwahati: Assam cabinet on Friday approved a nominal Re 1 settlement premium for land allotted to the Lovlina Boxing Academy.The land, measuring more than three bighas, is located at Hudumpur village under Chayani Mouza in Palashbari Revenue Circle, Kamrup district.“The decision is aimed at supporting the development of sporting infrastructure and encouraging the growth of boxing and other sporting disciplines in Assam. Lovlina Borgohain’s achievements on the international stage have brought immense pride to the State and the country, while serving as an inspiration to the younger generation to pursue sporting excellence,” CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said at a post-cabinet briefing.Borgohain won gold in the women’s 75kg boxing event at the 2026 Asian Games and bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.The cabinet also adopted 75 resolutions expressing its “deep sense of appreciation and gratitude” to PM Narendra Modi for Assam’s and the northeast’s “profound transformation” in development, peace and security, connectivity, infrastructure, industry and social sectors.Sarma chaired the 90-minute special meeting held to discuss Modi’s 25 years of continuous public service.“Peace created the conditions for development, connectivity opened doors to opportunity, industry and investment created new economic possibilities, and healthcare and education strengthened human capabilities,” he said.“The cabinet, therefore, placed on record its considered appreciation that, over the past 25 years of Modi’s public life, and particularly during his tenure as the prime minister, Assam has witnessed a transformation that is simultaneously economic, social, physical, strategic and civilisational,” the CM added.
