Guwahati: Assam Rifles and Indian Army teams detected and neutralised as many as 27 IEDs along an eight-km stretch of road near the India–Myanmar border in Manipur’s Kamjong district. The Army’s Spear Corps wrote on X that the 27 IEDs were detected along the Shangkhalok-Pilong route.Army has not named any organisation responsible for planting the IEDs or disclosed their intended target. It said the operation had foiled attempts by “anti-national elements” to disrupt peace and helped safeguard local border communities and “reaffirmed the relentless vigilance of security forces in safeguarding the borders.”Kamjong district’s border belt remains tense after four Tangkhul Naga civilians were shot dead near Pilong village last month.Pilong lies in a rugged, forested sector close to Myanmar, where difficult terrain and sparse state presence have historically enabled the movement of armed groups, weapons and supplies. The Shangkhalok–Pilong route is important for local border communities as well as patrolling by security forces.
