Kataria urges youth to stay connected with India’s cultural roots

Patiala: Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday welcomed Chinmaya Amrit Vahini at the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav in Patiala, marking 75 years of the Chinmaya Mission.The Chinmaya Amrit Vahini, carrying the sacred idol and padukas of Swami Chinmayananda, reached Patiala after a year-long religious journey across the country. Members of the Chinmaya Mission and devotees welcomed it.Addressing the gathering, Kataria said the teachings of saints and great souls had strengthened India’s cultural and spiritual heritage. He said spreading the teachings of scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana was the need of the hour.Kataria said a person must first achieve victory over oneself before seeking victory over others. Referring to Guru Nanak Dev’s principle of ‘Kirat Karo, Naam Japo te Vand Chhako’, he urged people to incorporate its teachings into their lives.He called on young people to remain connected with their roots and said living for others was the true purpose of life. He also praised the mission for promoting Indian culture, spirituality and Sanatan knowledge.Chinmaya Mission Noida acharya Swami Chidrupananad said the organisation had worked to take Swami Chinmayananda’s teachings and ideology to people in India and abroad through its centres.
