Share trader kidnapped over ₹15L dues

Surat: A 27-year-old share trader was allegedly kidnapped by three persons in the city on Tuesday following a dispute over business dealings involving dues of around Rs15 lakh, police said on Wednesday. Adajan police have registered an FIR and formed multiple teams to trace the man.According to the police complainant, Pramod Patwa (49), who operates two offices related to share trading in the Majura and Adajan areas, the dispute arose from business dealings and eventually escalated into threats and confrontation.The incident occurred between 1pm and 2pm on Tuesday at a commercial premises in the city. According to the complaint, a man identified as Amul, who had arrived from Mumbai along with two unidentified persons, came to meet Patwa. As Pramod was attending a social function at the time, he asked Amul to meet his 27-year-old son, Agam Patwa.Amul and the two unidentified men met Agam at his office in Adajan. Later, when Agam went to a nearby restaurant, the accused followed him. After he became unreachable and could not be contacted, his family became suspicious.Pramod then checked CCTV footage from establishments near the restaurant. The footage clearly showed two unidentified men forcing Agam into a black car and driving away.Following the incident, Adajan police registered an FIR under Sections 140(3) and 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched a search operation for the accused as well as the abducted trader.Deputy commissioner of police (Zone-5) Lakhdhirsinh Zala said, “We have identified three accused involved in the crime. Our teams are trying to trace the victim.”
