Rajkot: A 20-year-old college student allegedly died by suicide in Junagadh district after consuming toxic agricultural tablets, reportedly distressed over receiving an Allowed to Keep Term (ATKT) in her examinations.The deceased has been identified as Khushi Makwana, a student pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in biology. According to police, the incident occurred on Monday evening, when she allegedly ingested poisonous tablets commonly used to protect stored wheat crops. Although she was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment, she succumbed during treatment.Officials at the Bilkha police station in Junagadh district have registered a case of accidental death and initiated a formal inquiry and recorded the statement of the victim’s father, Mansukh Makwana.In his statement to investigators, Makwana stated that his daughter harboured aspirations of becoming a doctor, which prompted her to enrol in the science stream. Despite dedicating herself to her studies, she was deeply disheartened upon learning that she had received an ATKT in her examination results, leading her to take the extreme step.
