Ajmer: A former jailer of Ajmer Central Jail, on the run for more than two months after being charged with taking two murder convicts out of the facility to work as domestic help at her private residence, was remanded by a local court Wednesday to the very prison she had been in charge of.Divya Choudhary, absconding since the Aug 5 registration of an FIR against her based on a prison guard’s complaint and after necessary prosecution sanction by the state govt, was picked up late Tuesday from a residential apartment in Kota and brought back here. Her arrest was facilitated by inputs from Ajmer police’s cyber cell.A co-accused in the case, prison guard Sonia Choudhary, who allegedly helped the jailer take home the two convicts, remains absconding. Both were suspended following the incident and ordered to report to Bikaner Central Jail, but they never showed up.Ajmer SP Harsh Vardhan Agarwala said the case dates back to July 12, the day Choudhary is accused of taking the two female murder convicts serving life sentences, Kiran and Sanna, out of the facility without following due procedure and against the objections of prison guards.Police said she drove the two women out of the prison in her personal car and took them to her residence for cleaning and household work. She threatened prison guards on duty who objected to letting the two convicts out without the necessary paperwork, police added. Both inmates were taken back into custody later from Choudhary’s residence and sent back to prison.
