Margao: A portion of a shop selling meat and meat products in Gandhi Market, Margao, collapsed in the early hours of Sunday. A major tragedy was averted as no vendors were at the spot at the time. The collapsed section is located near the toilet block in the market.Hours later, a larger part of the same structure came down. Vendors had earlier been barred from sitting near the building in the morning as it was considered unsafe. This, traders said, ensured that no one was injured in either collapse.Since the building is under the control of Margao Municipal Council, traders have demanded that the civic body take immediate steps to ensure the safety of vendors as well as shoppers visiting the market.Since the building is under the control of Margao Municipal Council, traders have demanded that the civic body take immediate steps to ensure the safety of vendors as well as shoppers visiting the market.
