MUMBAI: Actor Dino Morea on Friday appeared before that officers of the Mumbai Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for questioning in connection with the investigation of the multi-crore Mithi River desilting scam.Dino arrived at the EOW headquarters located in the Mumbai Police commissionerate compund near the Crawford market in south Mumbai.Dino and his brother Santino Morea were earlier questioned last year too.An EOW officer on Friday said that the Dino had been summoned and will be questioned. He declined to further comment on it.In May last year, the Moreas submitted their personal bank account records and those of UBO Ridez, an electric cart company where Santino was a director.A police source had then said that some financial transactions can be seen between UBO Ridez and Vodar India LLP.One of the two arrested accused, Ketan Kadam, is associated with Vodar India. Police was probing the nexus between the two companies.UBO Ridez and Vodar India operate from the same address in Worli, and Kadam’s wife is also a director in UBO Ridez, said the police.On March 20, 2024, the EOW constituted a special investigation team (SIT) led by the then joint commissioner Nishith Mishra and DCP Sangramsinh Nishandar to probe the alleged scam.There are allegations that the accused persons, contractors, middlemen, and several BMC officials connived and caused a loss of Rs 65.5 crore to the civic body by not desilting the Mithi River, submitting fake bills, and getting them cleared.
