Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation will organise camps across the city to bring a bouquet of government-run services to citizens’ doorsteps.Beginning Friday, the civic body will hold 157 camps offering services including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, West Bengal student credit card, pre- and post-matric scholarships, Jai Johar, PM Svanidhi, old-age, widow and disability pensions, Kanya Ratna, PM Viswakarma and the PM Employment Generation Programme.Citizens and real estate firms can also access services related to projects under the RERA framework and file claims for compensation (Form-N) before the WBRERA authority, said KMC administrator and municipal commissioner Smita Pandey. The camps will also conduct free health screenings for malaria, dengue and TB through the KMC health department, sources said.“We have taken up an outreach programme to bridge the gap between the govt and citizens. Fifteen state departments will offer 46 types of services that the citizens may avail at the camps that will be set up in their neighbourhoods. The state government will track the progress of the services rendered to the citizens who will apply for certain govt facilities,” said Pandey.A KMC official who was earlier involved with Duare Sarkar, another outreach programme, said the camps would help citizens access crucial services quickly.“We have trained our manpower to deal with the problems of citizens in an effective manner. We want them to apply for the government schemes as they are the real beneficiaries of these welfare schemes,” the civic official said.
