Ahmedabad: Gujarat Congress on Tuesday staged protest in Ahmedabad over alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls, with hundreds of party workers dressed in black took out a march demanding greater transparency in the process.The protest, led by Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Amit Chavda and Congress Legislative Party leader Tushar Chaudhary, began near Patang Hotel on Ashram Road and culminated at Sardar Baug. Congress workers staged a sit-in and later burnt an effigy of the Election Commission as part of the demonstration.Chavda alleged that the deletion of names of genuine voters was unlawful and accused the Election Commission of failing to act independently. He demanded immediate removal of CEC and a legal inquiry into the allegations against him.Chavda said the Congress had been raising concerns over electoral rolls since 2023, adding that the issue had gained renewed significance following allegations of irregularities during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
