Kolkata: As Mamata Banerjee left for New Delhi on Tuesday for a meeting with INDIA bloc, CM Suvendu Adhikari alleged that she was moving with “Jamaat in one hand and dimagi Naxals in the other”. Claiming that INDIA alliance had reached an end, Adhikari dismissed Wednesday’s meeting as a “planning session with radical groups”.“She is going to New Delhi to hatch plans with dimagi Naxals. She is their prime adviser now. She is shouting azadi slogans. We can very well assume what she is capable of doing,” Adhikari said. The CM posted on X: “This is nothing but the petty politics of convenience. You cannot selectively trust institutions only when the results suit your political fortunes. The people of West Bengal and the rest of the nation see right through this facade. A political entity that lacks the courage to accept people’s rejection cannot hide behind frivolous attacks on routine democratic procedures. Hypocrisy has a limit, but for Congress and its allies, duplicity remains their only permanent policy.”Bengal BJP has been highly critical of Naxals and Left-wing extremism. Following its significant political gains in the state, BJP has used its platform to aggressively target both physical and intellectual forms of the movement. Following a national narrative set by PM Narendra Modi, Bengal BJP has focused heavily on “dimagi Naxals”. Earlier, the party had pointed at “dimagi Naxal” forces behind movements at Jadavpur University and SRFTI.The criticisms became sharper after Banerjee and CPM — bitter Bengal rivals for decades — began actively coordinating a joint strategy. Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya earlier accused Trinamool of using Maoist or extremist groups for political gains during rural and state elections.Claiming that Banerjee has become the “chief adviser” to extreme Left-wing elements, Adhikari urged Delhi Police and Intelligence Bureau to monitor her movements to prevent meetings with “anti-national forces”. “I would urge Delhi Police to keep an eye on her,” he said.Bengal BJP, on the other hand, dismissed Banerjee’s bonhomie with Congress and Left and claimed that Rahul Gandhi was talking to the same TMC he was critical of before the assembly polls. “What will she achieve after meeting alliance members? She does not have anyone with her after her party netas deserted her,” said BJP state general secretary Locket Chatterjee.“They (INDIA alliance partners) are simply trying to remain contextual. The fact that DMK and AAP have refused to join the meeting shows that nobody wants to ride a sinking ship,” Bengal BJP spokesperson Debjit Sarkar said.
