Agartala: A TIPRA Motha candidate in Tripura’s village committee elections was injured after unidentified people allegedly opened fire at him in Warengbari on Monday, police said.The incident occurred under R K Pur police station in Gomati district as Patitra Reang was getting out of his vehicle, police said. He sustained a gunshot injury and was taken to Gomati District Hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.Two other TIPRA Motha supporters, Chitrajoy Reang and Udaiproy Reang, were also injured. Police said they did not suffer gunshot wounds, but the nature of their injuries was unclear.A senior police officer, accompanied by security personnel, reached the spot soon after the incident. Efforts were underway to identify and arrest those responsible.In a separate incident, a polling agent of an independent candidate was reportedly injured in an attack by unidentified miscreants at Dasda RD Block in North Tripura during polling on Monday.
