The divisional railway manager (DRM) of Ahmedabad on a mission to modernize passenger amenities, visited the National Institute of Design (NID) on Thursday. During the visit, he interacted with officials and students of the Railway Design Centre (RDC) at NID to discuss the future of transit aesthetics. The RDC, a collaborative powerhouse, will remain functional till 2035, ensuring a steady pipeline of creative solutions for the network, indicated a release by the Western Railway.The release mentioned that Ved Prakash, DRM, meticulously inspected a cutting-edge parcel trolley developed by NID among other significant innovations. The trolley is developed to drastically ease the parcel movement between crowded platforms and parcel vans, said officials, prioritizing the use of ergonomics and better manoeuvrability to reduce manual strain. The prototype trolley will be deployed for a rigorous field inspection by the railway officials at Kalupur railway station on Friday to test its durability in real-world conditions, added the release.
