Jaipur: Additional chief secretary for School Education Monday held a meeting with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) representatives to discuss ways the industry can contribute to enhancing school infrastructure in the state via corporate social responsibility (CSR).The talks included leveraging ‘Gyan Sankalp Portal’ for donations and school adoptions, as well as encouraging industrial entities to engage directly with local schools to assess their specific needs and provide targeted support.The meeting involved detailed deliberations on meeting various requirements of state govt schools through CSR, increasing the participation of corporate and industrial entities, and making this collaboration more effective and streamlined via Gyan Sankalp Portal.Additional chief secretary Yadav said, “Increasing corporate participation in the education sector is the need of the hour. Industrial units have been maintaining ongoing dialogue with govt schools operating in their respective areas. The entities within industrial zones can visit local schools to assess the ground reality and provide support tailored to the actual needs of these govt schools.” He added that the support received through CSR should be channelled to schools in a planned and need-based manner.State project director for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Rashmi Sharma said that Gyan Sankalp Portal acts as a bridge between the needs of schools and supporting organisations.“Through this platform, collaboration can be further expanded in areas such as infrastructure, digital education, innovation, educational resources, and the holistic development of students,” said Sharma.Through the portal, which was started in 2017-18, over 64,900 schools have benefited till now. Officials said that the portal was started to give an easy way to philanthropists as it presents the needs of schools from across the state. A person can select a particular school where they want to donate for development and the funds donated through the portal are sent to Mukhyamantri Vidyadaan Kosh from where they are transferred to the school for which they have been donated.Officials further said that organisations and individuals are given autonomy to specify details of how their money should be spent under divisions like Create a CSR Project, Support a Project, and choose needs in Adopt a School.
