New Delhi: A two-and-a-half-month-old infant who was allegedly kidnapped in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka was rescued within hours and reunited with her parents, with police arresting two people in connection with the case.A PCR call reporting the abduction was received Saturday, following which multiple teams were formed to trace and safely rescue the infant. Police launched a door-to-door search in Bamnoli village, set up checkpoints on roads leading out of the area and screened passing vehicles.“Based on call detail records, location analysis, CCTV footage and local inquiry, a police team traced the accused persons, Deepak and Sheela, residents of Bamnoli village in southwest Delhi. The infant was safely recovered from their possession and was handed to her parents,” DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh said.An FIR was registered at Sector 23 Dwarka police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.The case is one of several recent incidents of child abduction reported in the capital. In May, a six-month-old infant kidnapped from GTB Hospital in Shahdara was rescued within 30 hours and a 45-year-old woman was arrested. In Jan, a four-day-old baby was allegedly abducted from a hospital in Rohini and later rescued.
