Faridabad: Police and emergency teams are engaged in the rescue operation of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who fell into a 200-foot-deep open borewell in Sihi village on Sunday.Neha was playing with other children near the spot when she fell into the borewell. Her father, Ramdeen, works as a labourer. Soon after the incident, local residents alerted police, following which a team reached the spot. A rescue team was also called in. Officials are carrying out excavation around the borewell and taking other measures to create access to the child.The borewell belongs to the municipal corporation and had been lying unused for around 10 years. It had been covered with a lid, but the cover went missing a few days ago, leaving the borewell exposed. The incident has also raised concerns over the safety of abandoned civic infrastructure, particularly open borewells in residential areas where children have access to the surroundings.
