New Delhi: Delhi govt will start 53 development projects worth Rs 214.1 crore in unauthorised colonies in five Assembly constituencies that will focus on improving roads and drainage.The work will be in areas plagued by the lack of basic infrastructure for years, the CMO said.Chief minister Rekha Gupta Sunday laid the foundation stones for these projects under the Seva Sankalp campaign. The areas in focus are Kirari, Bawana, Mundka, Narela and Nangloi Jat. The work is expected to benefit around 1.75 lakh residents.The projects will cover 1,062 roads and lanes in 27 unauthorised colonies. Around 89.82 km of roads will be laid and 147.69 km of drainage network made.Kirari will see 27 projects — the largest share of the lot — worth Rs 105.51 crore in 14 unauthorised colonies. The work will cover 640 roads and lanes and 101.42 km of drainage network. A stormwater drainage network is also proposed to reduce waterlogging.In Bawana, nine projects will be done at a cost of Rs 38.83 crore. Mundka will see five projects worth Rs 22.05 crore. Narela will have four projects worth Rs 14.48 crore and Nangloi Jat will have eight, worth Rs 33.25 crore.Gupta said roads and drains are basic requirements and her govt would work to ensure the service reached every lane of Delhi.PWD and water minister Parvesh Verma said development would not remain confined to main roads and would reach the unauthorised colonies.Social welfare minister Ravindra Indraj Singh said adequate attention had not been paid to the development of Kirari during the previous govt’s tenure.
