REWARI: A police Bolero was damaged after a speeding truck allegedly rammed into it near Rao Abhay Singh Chowk on Delhi Road in Rewari late Saturday night. The police driver, identified as Karan, sustained injuries in the collision and was subsequently taken to a trauma centre for treatment. The truck driver fled the spot following the accident.According to the information available, Karan, a resident of Lala village, is posted as a driver with the Rewari Police. At around 11 pm on Saturday, he was driving the police vehicle from Delhi Road towards the police lines when the truck collided with the Bolero near Rao Abhay Singh Chowk.The impact was substantial, leaving the front portion of the police vehicle badly damaged. Karan suffered injuries, including an injury to his neck. Police personnel immediately rushed him to a hospital, where he received medical treatment. His condition was subsequently stated to be stable, with no serious injuries reported.According to police personnel present at the spot, the truck was approaching from the Prajapati Chowk side and was travelling at considerable speed. The police Bolero, meanwhile, was proceeding towards Dharuhera.The collision occurred at the chowk, following which the truck driver fled the scene with the vehicle.Following the incident, police teams reached the spot and launched a search for the truck and its driver. The truck has since been recovered and taken into police custody, while the driver remains absconding.Model Town police station SHO Inspector Manoj said the vehicle had been recovered but the driver had not yet been traced.“The driver has not been found yet. The vehicle has been recovered and is in our custody. A case has been registered against the driver and efforts are underway to trace him. The investigation is in progress, and we will arrest him soon,” SHO Manoj said.Police are also examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around the area to establish the sequence of events and identify the accused driver.Rao Abhay Singh Chowk falls under the jurisdiction of Model Town police station, where police personnel are routinely deployed. After the accident, police reached the spot, managed the situation and initiated an investigation.Police said the investigation is currently underway and further action will follow based on the evidence gathered. The immediate focus remains on tracing and arresting the truck driver, who fled after the collision
