Kolkata: A 42-year-old man was arrested within half an hour of allegedly stealing gold and silver jewellery worth around Rs 15 lakh from his former in-laws’ house in Barasat on Friday evening. Police said the stolen jewellery was recovered from the accused, identified as Tuhin Mondal.The incident took place around 7 pm in Maynagdi Dakshinpara under Duttapukur police station.Police traced Tuhin’s mobile phone location to Bamunghata and arrested him within about 30 minutes. The jewellery allegedly stolen from the house was recovered from his possession, police said.According to police, Tuhin had married Rinki Parvin, a resident of West Khilkapur in Duttapukur. The couple reportedly had frequent disputes after their marriage, including over the jewellery kept at her parental home. Their relationship eventually ended in divorce last month.Tuhin was produced before a Barasat court on Saturday, which sent him to judicial custody.
