Hyderabad: Two labourers died and 11 of their co-workers sustained injuries when the cargo van they were travelling in overturned on Outer Ring Road (ORR) on Saturday morning.The deceased were Mangilal (60) and Surekha (40) from Cherlapally. At around 9 am on Saturday, the cargo van in which 15 labourers and a driver were travelling from Cherlapally industrial area to Patancheru overturned on ORR at Keesara. “The rear left tyre burst and the vehicle went out of control. The workers fell on the road and two of them died on the spot with multiple injuries. Among the others, 11 persons, including the driver, suffered minor injuries and they are out of danger,” Keesara in-charge inspector B Ramesh said.During the preliminary probe, police found out that the victims had been staying at temporary hutments in Cherlapally, working as labourers. “They are natives of Maharashtra. On Saturday, a labour contractor called them for tree plantation work at a gated community in Patancheru. The accident occurred while they were en route to Patancheru. The injured victims alleged that they had asked the driver of the vehicle to change the worn-out tyres but he did not heed their suggestion,” the inspector said.A case was registered against the accused driver, B Veeranna, under sections 106 (1) (causing death due to negligence) and 125 (a) (causing hurt due to an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He is currently undergoing treatment for an injury. Bodies of the victims were sent to the morgue for postmortem.
