Kolkata: CM Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday said that a road should be renamed after the Kothari brothers, Ram Kothari (22) and Sharad Kothari (20), who participated in Ram Janmabhoomi Movement as Kar Sevaks along with lakhs of people. They were killed in indiscriminate police firing in Ayodhya in 1992.Adhikari requested Ram Sharad Kothari Smriti Sangh to suggest a road that can be renamed after the brothers. “I request Ram Sharad Kothari Smriti Sangh to suggest a road name for the brothers in Bengal, just as there is one in Lucknow. There should be awards in their names in our colleges. Give this nationalist double-engine govt suggestions, and we will fulfil them,” he said.Purnima Kothari, younger sister of the Kothari brothers, made a request on behalf of Smriti Sangh to rename a metro station or road, or install a memorial in memory of Ram and Sharad Kothari. “I would request the CM to rename a metro station or a road or install a memorial in Burrabazar to honour my brothers so that their sacrifices inspire generations,” she said.
