Ahmedabad: Former Union minister and former Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki on Thursday officially took charge as the new president of the prestigious Sardar Vallabhbhai Smriti Trust, following the death of its former president, Devendra Desai. Concurrently, Nishit Vyas assumed responsibility as the managing trustee.Established in 1977, the trust tirelessly works to propagate the enduring ideas, values, and messages of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and other prominent national leaders of the Indian freedom movement. Moving forward, its core objectives include actively promoting national unity and integrity, undertaking critical relief and public service during natural calamities, combating social evils such as untouchability, and creating vibrant platforms for youth awareness and grassroots movements across the region.After assuming charge, Solanki and Vyas pledged that the trust would significantly expand its constructive activities in Gujarat by promoting the foundational ideals and thoughts of Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi to inspire coming generations.
