NOIDA: Families of passengers who were travelling on the bus that caught fire arrived at the post-mortem house in Sector 94 on Thursday. Several relatives, in search of their loved ones, were still waiting for confirmation about the identities of the victims, with police facing difficulties in establishing who was inside the bus at the time of the incident.Among those waiting was Kuldeep Gupta, a resident of Sector 47, whose mother Saroj and brother Manoj Gupta had boarded the bus from Sector 37 for Rath in Uttar Pradesh.“My mother Saroj and brother Manoj Gupta boarded the bus from Sector 37 for Rath. Early in the morning, when their mobile phones were switched off, we contacted the travel company. They informed us about the incident, following which we came here to find out what happened to them,” Gupta said.Like Gupta’s family, relatives of several other passengers reached the mortuary after receiving information about the incident. They were seen waiting for updates from police and officials while trying to establish whether their family members were among those who died in the fire.According to police, the identification process has proved particularly challenging as only skeletal remains were recovered from inside the completely burnt-out bus. Officials are now relying on passenger records and details provided by the bus operator to establish the identities of those who were travelling on the vehicle.Police said the passenger list is being matched with the available forensic evidence as part of the identification process. Families, meanwhile, continued to wait at the mortuary for confirmation about their relatives.The incident has left several families in uncertainty, with relatives anxiously awaiting official confirmation before they can take the remains of their loved ones for the final rites.
