Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday asked BJP workers to take Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year public service and governance journey to the people, while urging the party’s OBC Morcha to strengthen the organisation down to the booth level.Saini was speaking at Panchkamal, the party office in Panchkula, during a programme marking the assumption of office by the newly appointed state president of the BJP Backward Classes Morcha, Engineer Sunil Sen.The programme was presided over by BJP state president Dr Archana Gupta.Saini said organisational positions in the BJP were responsibilities toward public service and the organisation, adding that the party’s 46-year journey had been built on the dedication of its workers.The CM further said workers should actively participate in the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, being observed from Sept 17 to Oct 17. He said the organisation and govt must ensure that welfare schemes and development initiatives reach the last person of society.Saini also asked the OBC Morcha to expand its outreach to the grassroots and strengthen the organisation at the booth level.Archana Gupta said the OBC Morcha should strengthen its presence in every assembly constituency and involve panches, sarpanches, councillors and other public representatives in its activities. She called for greater participation of OBC workers under the slogan “Jahan Kam, Wahan Hum”.Highlighting the Centre’s initiatives for the OBC community, the Haryana BJP chief referred to constitutional status for the National Commission for Backward Classes and 27% OBC reservation in the All-India Quota for undergraduate and postgraduate medical and dental seats.She also stressed the need to combine traditional OBC skills with modern technology. Referring to the PM Vishwakarma scheme, she said skill training, modern tools, financial assistance and market access could help traditional artisans expand into domestic and international markets, generating employment and raising incomes.Former state BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli, ministers Krishan Lal Panwar and Ranbir Gangwa, several MLAs and party functionaries were also present.
