Science and Technology Park at SPPU to start 3 centres of excellence | Pune News



Pune: The Science and Technology Park (STP) at Savitribai Phule Pune University will launch three new centres of excellence in the near future.The announcement was made during an event organised at the Pune International Centre to mark the completion of STP’s 40 years of operations. A coffee-table book celebrating the four decades of work was also released.The new centres will include centre of excellence in innovation and technology management in policy research, geoinformatics and a global capability centre.Director general of the park Rajendra Jagdale told reporters that the organisation had provided incubation services to 1,372 startups and secured funding for 260 of these entities. He said 659 projects across various sectors had been completed across all states and 26 products were brought to the market.Former secretary of the Union department of science and technology Ashutosh Sharma said the acquisition of high-quality knowledge naturally leads to financial returns. Therefore, “we need to devote greater attention to this aspect.” Noting the current era of AI, he stressed the necessity to embrace change, said the STP’s official release.
