Hisar: Social activists have launched a targeted drive in Sirsa district to combat child marriage and establish dedicated protection committees across more than 300 panchayats currently operating without them.The initiative—jointly organised by the Selfie with Daughter Foundation and Just Rights for Children—is led by social activist Sunil Jaglan. The campaign follows a foundation survey revealing that village child protection committees have not been constituted in over 300 panchayats across the district.The primary objective of the campaign is to push every local body to formally adopt the child-friendly panchayat framework and establish statutory protection panels at the village level.As part of the drive, organisers plan to deploy nearly 1,500 all-girl vigilance teams to monitor and report child rights violations.Additionally, awareness posters detailing legal provisions against child marriage and displaying emergency helpline numbers will be installed across public spaces in Sirsa villages.
