Kolkata: Police have registered a case against a woman from Santoshpur for allegedly threatening her sister, whose nine-year-old daughter is the victim of a sexual assault case.The girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by the accused woman’s husband. The accused woman allegedly threatened her sister and forced her to withdraw the complaint.The man is currently in judicial custody. According to the latest complaint, his wife allegedly called her sister and threatened her on the phone. She also allegedly warned her of serious consequences after her husband was released on bail.Survey Park police registered the case on Sept 17 under Sections 351(2) and 232 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Police said the woman’s husband was arrested on the basis of a case lodged in Bengaluru which was later transferred to Survey Park police station in July.The complainant told police that her sister had threatened her on earlier occasions as well. She also expressed fear that she and other members of the minor girl’s family could be threatened or pressured because of the ongoing case.Police have started an investigation. Officers are examining the circumstances of the alleged phone conversation and are expected to record the statements of the complainant and others who may have heard the conversation.
