Itanagar: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has partnered with Keyi Panyor Mission Plan 2040 (KPMP 2040) to establish a dedicated centre of excellence on its campus for the long-term sustainable development of Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi Panyor district.A letter of intent was signed at IIT Delhi on Friday by Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung and the institute’s dean of corporate affairs, Prof. Jayant Jain. The agreement will facilitate joint research, technical cooperation and policy governance.Speaking at IIT Delhi’s CSR Conclave 2026, Tatung outlined Keyi Panyor’s vision to become a ‘biohappy district’ — an eco-centric growth model that boosts local livelihoods and public services while preserving forest cover, water sources and indigenous ways of life. He also highlighted Comprehensive Action Plan for Education (CAPE), which places teachers at the heart of community-led development.Addressing representatives of public sector units, including DMRC, GAIL, IOCL, NTPC and Konkan Railway, Tatung urged corporate leaders to extend CSR, technical and knowledge support to the district.He also presented a visual walkthrough of Keyi Panyor’s proposed mini-secretariat, designed by scenographer and Padma Bhushan awardee Rajeev Sethi. The design draws inspiration from traditional Nyishi longhouses.The three-member KPMP delegation, including CEO Vijayan MJ and director Dr Mini Kochumbron, met senior IIT Delhi faculty members and visited facilities focusing on healthcare, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, robotics and early-warning systems.Specific collaborations were discussed with Centre for Rural Development and Technology to address springshed protection, agroecology, waste management and terrain-suited rural technologies.Tatung also interacted with students from Arunachal Pradesh and other northeastern states studying at IIT Delhi, encouraging them to stay connected to their roots and contribute their technical expertise to initiatives driving local transformation back home.
