Mohali: The Zirakpur police have arrested a woman in connection with a property fraud case registered in 2019 involving an alleged fraud of around Rs 40 lakh in a deal related to units at Golden Square.Investigating Officer Jeevan Singh said the case was initially registered in 2019 through FIR No. 469. After the registration of the FIR, the police had prepared and submitted a cancellation report before the court. However, the complainant opposed the report, following which the court of the Derabassi judge directed the police to conduct a fresh investigation into the matter.According to the police, the re-investigation was initiated in 2020 in compliance with the court’s directions.The case pertains to an agreement for the sale of certain units at Golden Square. During the course of the re-investigation, the police said offences under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code were found to be made out.The main accused named in the case are Subhash Bansal and his son, both of whom have already been granted anticipatory bail by the court, the investigating officer said.During the detailed investigation, the police allegedly found the involvement of Subhash Bansal’s wife, Suman Bansal, a resident of Motia Royal City, Zirakpur. Based on the findings of the investigation, she was arrested, the police said.The investigating officer further said around 14 other fraud cases had been registered against Subhash Bansal at different police stations.Suman Bansal is currently being interrogated by the police, while further investigation and legal proceedings in the case are underway.
