Noida: A fire broke out on the fourth floor of a garment factory in Sector 63 on Friday morning, prompting a firefighting operation that lasted nearly 90 minutes. Everyone inside the building was evacuated safely soon after the blaze was detected, and no injuries or casualties were reported.The employees of Om Sai Garments factory reached the premises around 7:30 am and noticed the blaze after they opened the fourth floor. Factory security tried to extinguish the fire, but the flames quickly broke containment and spread. The fire department and local police were informed around 7:50 am.Eight fire tenders, an articulated water tower and a hydraulic platform were sent to the location, said Pradeep Kumar Chaubey, chief fire officer of G B Nagar. The water jets were deployed using a hydraulic platform, and two teams entered the factory from two separate entry points.The blaze was confined to the fourth floor, preventing it from engulfing the entire factory or spreading to adjacent properties. Following standard protocol, the fire department evacuated people from neighbouring facilities while continuously spraying nearby buildings to keep the flames at bay.A preliminary investigation points to an electrical short circuit in the floor’s air-conditioning system. A team has been tasked with inspecting the remaining electrical installations to confirm the exact cause.The exact scale of loss has not been reported yet, and an assessment of damaged stock and equipment is underway.A similar incident was reported earlier this month, on Sept 9, at an electronic goods warehouse in Hoshiyarpur village, Sector 51. The blaze engulfed the warehouse within minutes, with firefighters taking nearly two hours to bring it under control. A short circuit was suspected to have triggered the fire.Earlier, on Sept 6, a shoe factory in Sector 63 was gutted after a fire broke out on its fourth floor after work for the day had ended. The cause was again suspected to be a short circuit.
