Surat: Industrial entities across South Gujarat that have invested in captive solar and wind power plants have raised concerns about repeated curtailment of power generation and the lapsing of generated units, prompting the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) to take up the matter with authorities.A group of industrialists recently submitted a representation to the Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL), highlighting difficulties faced despite the govt’s push for renewable energy adoption.Entrepreneurs who have set up captive renewable energy plants said they are facing setbacks due to frequent generation curbs and the lapsing of units generated by their facilities. The issue drew strong reactions at a meeting held by SGCCI on Friday, where affected industry players sought urgent intervention.Industry representatives said the situation was undermining investments made under the state’s renewable energy policy framework. They called for clear, written guidelines from the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) and Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (Getco) to prevent arbitrary decisions and ensure predictable rules for captive renewable energy users.SGCCI has initiated steps to submit a detailed representation to senior govt officials, seeking simplification of energy banking rules and fair treatment for industries running captive renewable energy plants.Industrialists also complained that power generation from captive solar and wind facilities is often curtailed during peak afternoon hours, affecting their ability to fully use the energy generated.
