Lucknow: UP BJP on Thursday organised a programme titled ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ at its state party headquarters as part of the month-long ‘Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan’ across the state to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday (Sep 17).Deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with state BJP general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh, lit lamps at the party headquarters and prayed for Modi’s good health and long life.A large number of party functionaries and workers too lit lamps on the occasion. Women’s wing workers prepared a rangoli at the BJP headquarters as part of the programme.Addressing the gathering, Maurya said Modi’s life was an example of dedication to national service, welfare of the poor and public interest. He said lighting lamps on the Prime Minister’s birthday was not merely a celebration but an expression of gratitude for his commitment to service, good governance and welfare of the poor.Pathak said Modi’s birthday was being observed across the country as an occasion to reaffirm the commitment to public service. He said the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme symbolised the sentiments of BJP workers and millions of people towards the Prime Minister.“Light of the lamp conveys the message of service, positivity and commitment to nation-building,” Pathak said, urging party workers to participate actively in various programmes under the campaign.Dharampal Singh said Modi’s birthday was an opportunity to renew the party’s commitment to service. He said each lamp symbolised prayers for the Prime Minister’s health and long life.
