NAVI MUMBAI: The Raigad district collector Kishan Jawale has imposed restrictions on the use of DJs, Dolby sound systems, high-intensity laser beam lights, snow sprays and heat sprays across the district during Ganpati idol immersion processions on September 19 and 25.As per the government notification issued by Raigad district collector Kishan Jawale, the Lord Ganesha devotees will have to maintain the noise decibel limit during the immersion procession or else face legal action.The notification states that the laser lights can possibly cause damage to the eyes of the public including the police department staff deployed during the procession.While the high decibel DJ and Dolby sound system might cause health issues. The prohibitory order has been issued under Section 163 (1) of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, that empowers an Executive Magistrate to issue urgent written orders to stop a nuisance or prevent danger to public safety.While, legal action will be taken against those found violating the order by invoking BNSS Section 223 which deals with disobedience to a lawful order issued by a public servant.The Raigad police have appealed to the citizens to abide by the orders of Raigad district collector.Raigad collector Kishan Jawale said, “The prohibition order specifically for two days on September 19 (5-day Ganpati immersion) and September 25 (Anant Chaturdashi), when huge immersion processions are being carried out by Ganpati mandals.”“The aim is to ensure that the Ganpati immersion processions are conducted peacefully and without creating law and order problems and the citizens do not face any health issues due to use of DJ, Dolby sound system and chemical sprays during the procession,” he added.
