Guwahati: Chawangkining, a Naga village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, came under continued firing overnight, leaving two houses completely burnt and several others damaged. No casualties were reported.The firing began around 10.30pm on Sept 15 and continued until about 5am on Sept 16, the Chawangkining Village Authority said. It alleged that Kuki armed groups were behind the attack.The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur, also condemned the incident in a separate statement. It alleged that Kuki militants operating from a suspension of operations camp at Songtung were behind the firing.The incident came amid heightened tension following the killings of six Kuki-Zo civilians in Tamenglong, Noney and adjoining areas on Sunday and Tuesday.
