BJP chief claims big victory in West Bengal polls

Varanasi: BJP president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday voiced confidence that his party will form the govt in West Bengal with a “massive majority”.Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at the Vindhyachal temple in Mirzapur, Nabin said: “Wednesday was a special day for Bengal as people turned out in record numbers to ensure a BJP-led govt with a massive majority.Nabin, who was in Varanasi to welcome PM Narendra Modi, reached Mirzapur on Wednesday morning. BJP Mirzapur City MLA Ratnakar Mishra welcomed him and took him inside the temple to offer prayers after paying obeisance to Goddess Vindhyavasini.On his first visit to the district after assuming office, Nabin was welcomed by party workers at several places. At the temple, he was received by city MLA Ratnakar Mishra and District Magistrate Pawan Kumar Gangwar, who felicitated him with a traditional ‘angvastram’.After offering prayers for about 10 minutes amid Vedic chants, Nabin held a meeting at a hotel with local MLAs and emphasised strengthening the organisation. He asked public representatives to focus on serving people in their respective constituencies.
