‘Ganga Expressway to boost Purvanchal economy’

Gorakhpur: The inauguration of Ganga Expressway by PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday will significantly strengthen connectivity between eastern UP and the western parts of the state, while giving a major push to the region’s economy, former president of the Chamber of Industries, S K Agarwal said on Wednesday. He added that with Gorakhpur emerging as an industrial hub in recent years, the new corridor will facilitate faster movement of finished goods to NCR and western UP.“The state already has strong infrastructure with the Purvanchal Expressway and the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. The Ganga Expressway will further enhance connectivity and provide a major boost to trade and industry,” he said.Improved connectivity is expected to streamline supply chains, benefiting both agriculture and industrial sectors. He added that goods from Gorakhpur and eastern UP can now be transported to NCR and western districts via Lucknow or Raebareli in much less time, estimating up to 50% reduction in transit time. The region already supplies garments, textiles and agricultural produce to cities like Noida and Ghaziabad.Officials said a proposed link from Prayagraj will connect the corridor directly to the Purvanchal Expressway, while an interchange near Unnao links it with the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, making travel to Delhi and Noida more seamless.
