Chandigarh: Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta will flag off the second yatra of BJP’s four ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatras’ from Fatehgarh Sahib on Sept 19, Punjab BJP general secretary and state convener of the yatras Rajesh Bagha informed here on Tuesday.The first anti-drug yatra under “BJP da naara, nasha mukauna saara” will begin from Madhopur in Pathankot district on Sept 18 and will be flagged off by BJP national president Nitin Nabin. Bagha said, “Rekha Gupta will first pay obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Jyoti Saroop Sahib and pay respects to the younger Sahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh ji and Baba Fateh Singh ji. She will then address a gathering at the local grain market, following which she will flag off the yatra.” Bagha said, “The yatra will focus on three major challenges confronting Punjab today—the growing drug menace, deteriorating law and order, and corruption at every level of governance, from tehsil and police stations to the chief minister’s office.”He further said, “The yatra is not merely an awareness campaign against drugs, but an effort to confront the serious threat posed by the drug crisis to Punjabi identity, cultural values, the spirit of ‘Chardi Kala’ and the glorious identity of the land of the Gurus.”He added, “The drug crisis is tearing families apart and causing immense suffering, particularly to mothers and sisters. Punjab’s youth, traditionally known for their contribution to the armed forces, sports and nation-building, are being pushed towards drug addiction. This is resulting in a rise in crime, violence and gang-related activities. The law-and-order situation is deteriorating further, while families are being forced to take loans or sell their land and property to bear the cost of treatment, placing a heavy financial burden on them.”
