9 dead in 3 days after consuming spurious liquor in Nagaland
The DGP said preliminary findings suggested that the victims may have consumed tainted rum.

DIMAPUR: At least nine people have died at Tuensang district hospital over the past three days after reportedly consuming spurious liquor, prompting Nagaland director general of police Rupin Sharma to issue an alert advising people to abstain from drinking alcohol.The victims reportedly complained of breathlessness after consuming the suspected adulterated liquor. Their deaths have not yet been officially linked to the alcohol, and the circumstances are under investigation.In a social media post, Sharma said the deaths were suspected to be linked to spurious liquor, possibly a contaminated batch of rum, and described the situation as alarming.He advised people, particularly in Mon, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Longleng, Kiphire, Shamator and Noklak districts, not to consume liquor as a precautionary measure.The DGP said preliminary findings suggested that the victims may have consumed tainted rum.An investigation is under way to trace the source of the suspected contaminated alcohol and identify those responsible.Authorities have also urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious sale or distribution of liquor in their areas.
