GURGAON: A 50-year-old man returning home to Palwal after finishing work was killed after a speeding Thar hit his motorcycle near Sikri flyover on Saturday night.The SUV driver abandoned the vehicle at the spot and fled, leaving the injured rider on the road.The deceased, Shravan Kumar, a resident of Camp area in Palwal, worked at Shivalik Printing in Sector 6, Ballabgarh. He was returning home on his motorcycle after finishing his duty when the accident took place around 8pm.The impact threw Shravan off his motorcycle and left him seriously injured. Passersby rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.Police reached the spot after being alerted and seized the Thar.An officer said, “The driver had not been identified yet and police were working to trace him using the vehicle’s registration number and other details. The driver will be arrested after his identity is established.”Shravan is survived by his wife and two children.The family has alleged that the Thar driver was drunk at the time of the crash. A relative claimed “The driver had hit several other vehicles before striking Shravan’s motorcycle.” However, police have not confirmed the allegation yet.A case has been initiated to investigate and establish the circumstances leading to the crash and identify the driver.
