Amritsar: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has unveiled a 13-point action agenda to mark Amritsar’s 450th foundation anniversary in 2027, aiming to use the milestone to reflect on the city’s past and present while shaping its future.A GNDU release issued here on Thursday stated that the year-long initiative, conceived under the leadership of vice-chancellor Prof Karamjeet Singh, will bring together scholars, citizens, institutions, experts, artists, students and members of the global Punjabi and Sikh diaspora. Its guiding theme is ‘Remembering the Past, Understanding the Present, Imagining the Future’.The VC said that Amritsar is much more than a geographical space. “Sri Amritsar Sahib carries a universal message rooted in spirituality, sewa, human dignity, coexistence and Sarbat da Bhala. The 450th anniversary gives us an opportunity not only to celebrate what Amritsar has given to the world, but also to ask what kind of Amritsar we want to create for the coming generations,” he added. He added that the university intends to make the commemoration participatory, intellectually meaningful, internationally visible, and capable of leaving tangible legacies beyond 2027.
