NEW DELHI: A woman has alleged that a Rapido parcel delivery rider sent her an unsolicited “I love you” message and appeared unfazed after she warned him that she would approach the police if he contacted her again, prompting concerns over customer safety and privacy.Geetika Srivastava, who works in digital reputation and crisis communications, shared screenshots of the alleged exchange on LinkedIn and tagged Rapido co-founder Aravind Sanka, questioning the rider’s conduct and whether such behaviour would have consequences.“Being a woman in this country is tough, but apparently now you can’t even book a single Rapido parcel delivery without being harassed by their delivery guys,” Srivastava wrote.According to the screenshots shared by her, the delivery partner first messaged her asking how she was and later sent an unsolicited “I love you” message.Srivastava then warned him against contacting her again and said she would complain to the police if he called or messaged her again.“Vapas call ya msg kiya to police ko complaint karenge,” she wrote. The rider allegedly responded: “Ha kardo. Jao. Repido me kar do. (sic)”Srivastava questioned why the rider appeared confident about being complained against and whether he would face any consequences for his conduct.“Look how confident he is, telling me to complain. Does that mean he suffers no consequences? What sort of riders have been employed by the company?” she wrote while tagging Sanka.Rapido responded to the LinkedIn post and said it took the reported behaviour seriously.“Hi Geetika, we are sorry to learn about the unpleasant experience you faced during your Parcel Delivery ride. We understand your concern regarding the reported Captain’s behavior, and we take such matters very seriously. Customer safety, dignity, and respect are our top priorities,” the company said. The post drew comments from users who questioned whether a rider would face consequences beyond a warning or action on one platform. One user called the alleged conduct “terrifying” and questioned whether Rapido had taken any action beyond its response to the post.Another comment called for action against both the employer and employee, arguing that companies should be held accountable for protecting customer privacy and ensuring that serious misconduct has consequences.A third user raised concerns that a rider reprimanded on one platform could simply move to another, and called for stronger police integration and dynamic background checks for delivery partners rather than one-time verification. The comments also called for accountability at every level and “proportional action” that could act as a deterrent.
