Bone marrow donors can soon register online in TN: Minister

Chennai: The state health department will soon launch a website for people to register as bone marrow donors, said health minister K G Arunraj on Wednesday. “To mark World Bone Marrow Donor Day, we have honoured two people who have donated to create awareness among the public. We will start facility for bone marrow donor registry through TRANSTAN, to encourage people to register through a website, similar to blood donation,” he said, adding that facilities would be created at state govt medical college hospitals to allow people to enroll in the bone marrow donor registry.Meanwhile, the outpatient appointment booking facility, which was introduced in phases, has been expanded to cover all 32 departments at RGGGH from Sept 9. Earlier, it launched respiratory medicine department, general surgery, and diabetology. “The expansion of the booking facility will enable the public to access medical services more easily. It will help the hospital manage patient footfall and the delivery of services more efficiently,” said the minister.Patients can book appointments for the outpatient department through the NalamAI Chatbot on WhatsApp at 9619222999. Appointments can also be booked through e-Nalam app. Users can select the department, date and a time slot to schedule their appointments.
