HYDERABAD: Two BRS MLCs, T Madhusudhan and N Naveen Kumar Reddy, were arrested by Saifabad police on Tuesday in connection with a case registered against them over alleged derogatory remarks against assembly speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, but were later released after a city court rejected their remand. Both were granted bail on personal sureties.The arrests followed a complaint lodged on Monday by Pollepalli Venkatesham, the officer on special duty (OSD) to the speaker, alleging the two MLCs had used derogatory language.The alleged incident took place outside the assembly premises when BRS legislators attempted to enter the complex wearing black shirts and raising slogans as part of their protest against what they described as the state govt’s failure to fulfil its promises.
Remand request rejected
According to the complaint, police stopped the two MLCs, along with other BRS leaders, from entering the premises. During the altercation, the two legislators allegedly made offensive remarks.In his complaint, Venkatesham alleged, “T Madhusudhan and N Naveen Kumar Reddy launched a malicious verbal tirade targeting the speaker, knowing that he belongs to an SC community. They acted with malice to demean the speaker, incite hatred and cause public disorder.”Based on the complaint, Saifabad police registered a case against the two MLCs on Monday night under BNS Section 352, relating to intentional insult with the intent to provoke breach of peace, read with Sec 3(5), which deals with common intention.
