Ahmedabad: The estate department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday launched a demolition drive against illegal constructions at two locations in Dariapur ward.The civic body began demolishing an unauthorised residential scheme in Khajur Gali, where around 18,730 sq ft of illegal construction is slated to be removed. The AMC had issued a notice to occupants in Feb, but the demolition action could not be undertaken for nearly six months due to unavailability of police bandobast.In a separate action, the AMC also began demolishing around 7,240 sq ft of illegal construction at an unauthorised residential scheme in Sultan Mohalla of Dariapur. The civic body had served a notice to the scheme in June.Officials said the demolition drive was being carried out as part of the civic body’s action against unauthorised constructions in the city.
